私が、立体に興味を持ち始めたのは1960年代。アメリカの新しい美術が多く紹介され、日本でも若手の芸術家がその影響を強く受け、活発な活動を展開。多感な年頃の私はそのエネルギーに触発され、プライマリー・ミニマルと称されるアートジャンルに強く魅かれたのである。 さて、十数年にわたり、Transfiguration（変容）をテーマに制作を続けている。位置・位相概念の形象化のための考察である。単純な幾何学形態を組み合わせることにより、できるだけ不必要な情緒性や造形上の曖昧なものを排し、より直接に伝達したいという意図である。 ここ数年パブリックスペースをはじめとして、都市のオフィス空間、人々の生活空間など作品設置の機会に恵まれてきた。制作するにあたり、人と作品の出会いにより対話が生じ、互いに“力”を与えあう。作品それ自体も、置かれる“場”によって周囲と響きあい、溶け合い、もうひとつの風景をつくりだしてくれればと願っている。

In recent years, I have been pursuing a theme, transfiguration, which is a change of figures and shapes, and also means transforming into ideal forms. This is an experiment in which I am trying to make concepts of position and topologies visible, as one substance. Excluding sentiment and ambiguity in composition to the limit. I’d like to convey essence itself in the concepts, through my work. Though the material, stainless steel, tends to give an impression of being inorganic and cool, my work could be friendly and open to the people who meet it. And even though firmly fixed, the work could make the people feel its fluidity and movement on its own.
